Skateboarding is one of the most popular sports today. More than twelve million people do skateboarding. Among them, skaters under the age of 18. A new generation of young skaters are good people trying to find themselves in skateboarding.

If you want to start skateboarding, then you just need to read this article to make sure that skateboarding is the sport you need.

Before you fly like crazy and try to conquer the ramp, you will need a few simple but necessary things. For example, protection. You will need a good helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, gloves with wrist protection.

Most teens ignore the fact that skateboarding is a dangerous sport. Most often, they don’t put on protection at all, since they believe that it only interferes with performing tricks. However, it is not. Watch any competition on TV, and you will see that no professional skater can go onto the ramp without protection. Protective equipment gives a solid look to any skater and causes respect and admiration of others.

After you have acquired all the necessary protective equipment, you need to pick up a good skateboard. Now there are many different skateboards. And among them you need to choose the one that is suitable for you. Moreover, when choosing a skate, the drawing does not matter - it will quickly be erased.

Before you go on a skateboard to the street, you need to get used to your board, feel it. Therefore, do not be shy if something does not work, and do not be discouraged by the fact that you fall too often. You need to get used to the idea that you have to fall a lot. Falling is the natural process of mastering skateboarding. And yet - to learn how to ride a skateboard, immediately performing tricks, is not possible. As in any other sport, you will need zeal, patience, constant training, and not just one desire.

Another important thing you need to know about is the choice of the rack on the board (depending on what kind of jogging foot you have). To find out which leg is jogging, stand upright on both legs, ask someone to push you in the back. Pay attention to which leg you set forward so as not to fall - this leg is the jerked one. If you have a right leg ahead, and you push with your left - then your goofy stance. But if on the contrary - then regular, ordinary.

That's all you need to know before buying a board. If you still have doubts about skateboarding, watch a different video. If you don’t change your mind, then skate in your hands!

Skimboard Types

Initially, skimboard boards were made from a regular sheet of plywood, not always even properly processed. Today, the boards for this sport are mostly made of wood or special foam. Those who practice more professionally prefer more expensive boards that are made of glass or carbon fiber, which significantly reduces the overall weight of the board.

Boards are made in the form of an oval drop, and sometimes even round. In thickness they are much inferior to surfs, an ordinary skimboard is no thicker than 2.5 cm, which can also significantly reduce its weight, because here the athlete swims in shallow water. The surface on which the skimboarder stands is covered with a special anti-slip material, which ensures the adhesion of the athlete's legs and the board. And there are also different boards for swimming on a low wave or simply in ordinary shallow water. In the first case, it is better to take a board made of glass or carbon fiber. But for ordinary shallow water, boards from plywood, glued veneer, with the addition of a laminate are most often used.

Skimboarding

This sport has its own special skiing technique. The effect of gliding over water is achieved when the rider picks up a certain speed, which he reaches, as a rule, on land. That is, the athlete first runs up, after which he throws the board into the water and glides on the surface.

Today, there are three main areas in a skimboard: sand skimming, jibbing and wave skimming.

Weiskimming is most similar to surfing. Athletes ride on the shallows of the waves, performing various tricks. It is more complex in technology than other types, more athletes of a high level are engaged in it, a lot of competitions are held on it.

Sandskimming is also somewhat similar to skateboarding. Riders also ride and perform some tricks, however, already in the sandy shallow water.

Jibbing is a ride on artificially made obstacles and figures.

Skimboard is a very exciting sport. Today it is a great alternative to outdoor recreation with beer and barbecue among modern youth. Those who at least once rode a skimboard know that there is nothing better on a hot sultry summer day than to ride a waterboard on a skimboard!
