It should be noted a small drawback, which is characteristic of a swing, and indeed any wood products. There are varieties of this design: with or without bottom frame. In all swings of this type - with racks cut up at the top of the racks - the knot of fastening the cross-member is problematic, to which the bench then clings. In the photo above, it is solved reliably, although not quite aesthetically. The trouble is that aesthetic methods are difficult to perform. And, if you are not for sale, it’s faster to do something inelegant, but reliable. So, in order to fix the cross-member, an overhead beam is attached below the intersection, pulled to the posts by studs. A cross-beam lies on it, which is kept from lateral shifts by the uprights and fasteners - nails and studs.

All is well, but the length of the sofa is not enough ...

By the same principle, a do-it-yourself swing is assembled from logs: the side ones are fastened crosswise, and the supporting log is laid on top. If the beam is sometimes collected on nails, then in the case of logs, studs are mainly used.

Such a mount has a significant minus - a creak is heard when rocking. You can get rid of it for a while by lubricating the unit, but this operation will have to be repeated periodically. The way out is to make a knot on bearings, but you can not do without welding.

The connection of the main parts is carried out using carabiners. The length of the suspensions is selected in accordance with the wishes of the owner of the site. It is better if the bench is placed at a height of 30 cm from the ground.

Completion of work

At the last stage of the construction, all its elements are varnished. This will provide the smoothest surface, and also will preserve the natural appearance of wood and increase the life of the swing.

The last line of marking is designed for transverse cutting of the beam. These positions are marked with straight lines leading to each side of the leg. To make a pattern, you need to saw off the material on the side that is not processed.

Cut the supporting part of the structure

To saw off the material using a hacksaw, you should first put it on the edge and clamp it in the saw goats. Cutting is carried out strictly according to the marking. Remember to control the parties. This is especially true for the upper cut zone. Sometimes it becomes necessary to level the bevel. To do this, it is enough to process the end part of the cut with a planer.

To form the second leg, you need to put the first one to it, joint to joint. After that, all marks on the bevels and length are transferred to the second leg and sawn off according to the marking.

Then both legs are laid on the edge so that the end parts of the vertices are located on different sides of the transverse beam. The lower part of the legs is pushed to the sides until a distance of 1.2 m is formed. The upper part of these parts must be adjacent to the crossbar. To check the bevels, use a ruler, applying it to the ends. Adjust if necessary.

A distance of 50 cm is measured from the base of the legs and a lower bar is applied. Next, the lines of the legs, as well as the upper and lower parts of the bar, are transferred to the corresponding parts. After that, the upper bar is laid on its feet. This must be done so that it is located 15 cm lower than the transverse beam lies, and is parallel to the first bar. The markup is carried out in exactly the same way as in the previous version.

After that, the bars are removed, and the marking is combined on the surface. At given points, these elements need to be cut to the required length.

Assembly of the supporting part

The next phase of construction is a fit test. Marking is carried out using a square on the inside of the legs.

  • forming a mounting hole with a drill, the diameter of which is 4.5 mm. You need to do this as deep as possible into the end of the bars,

  • screed of parts through the installation hole using square-head screws equipped with 8x100 mm washers. You need to do this procedure with all the bars,
  • placing the transverse beam in an appropriate place in the upper part of the frame,
  • the combination of the edges of the frame with perpendicular markings on the transverse beam,
  • the formation of a hole with a diameter of 10 mm in the beam and in both legs,
  • fixing parts with a bolt with a semicircular head (125x10 mm) and a nut,
  • reconciliation of the angles between the beam and the leg,

the formation of through holes in the leg with a diameter of 4.5 mm at a level of 30 mm from the bottom of the beam. Fixing parts with screws (65 mm). Similar actions are performed on the upper leg. Only in this case, other screws (38 mm) are used for fastening.

Next, you need to connect the upper bar and the crossbar. The spacer is fixed with a through screw, the size of which is 65 mm. The upper part of this element is fixed to the lower edge of the beam in the end part with a 38 mm screw into a pre-made hole (4.5 mm).

Create a do-it-yourself wooden swing seat

The technology for creating a seat is carried out in stages on the basis of an L-shaped frame made of boards (40-50 mm).

Note! Drawings of a children's do-it-yourself swing made of wood are in many respects similar to ordinary family-type designs. Only in this case you can shorten the seat by making the swing single, or add a few seat belts to fix each child in the large seat.

  • treat the surface with a grinding tool. Thanks to this, you can eliminate bumps and burrs on the wood,
  • fix the armrests.

Balancing varieties of wooden swings

Such a variety can often be seen in yard playgrounds; it is a favorite pastime of children of all ages. It can be built from any wood material, whether it is a log, board or timber.

For the simplest solution you will need:

  • Log or log saw cut,
  • A pin made of wood or metal,
  • A board about three centimeters thick and about three meters long,
  • Bars in the amount of two pieces with a section size of 30x30 centimeters,
  • Two holders.

To build this variety, the log is placed on its side, after which it is fixed with the help of bars. In the center, a special pin is screwed onto which a board with attached holders is hung.
