So far, scientists have not found out that these ingredients (i.e. hydrogenated fats and oils) - and in pure form (on a sandwich), as well as in the composition of all your favorite fast foods or donuts - literally kill the body. Triglycerides and FIBERS

Fibrates (or "derivatives", ie derivatives of fibroic acid) is a separate class of drugs designed specifically to lower the level of triglycerides in the blood. According to recent research conducted by the National Institutes of Health (US Institute of Health, USA), fibrates lower triglycerides by 35-50% in patients with a condition such as hypertriglyceridemia. As well as familial (hereditary) or diabetic dyslipidemia.

The most effective drugs are: Gemfibrozil and Fenofibrat. Which - not only reduce the content of triglycerides (as well as LDL / LDL cholesterol by 10-15%), but also increase the level of beneficial HDL (HDL cholesterol) cholesterol by 10-20%. The mechanism of action of fibrates is mainly aimed at reducing the amount of VLDLP produced in the liver (that is, very low density lipoproteins), which just “transport” triacylglycerides (TAGs) to the cells (along the blood lines of the circulatory system).

The most common side effects of treatment with fibrates are digestive and liver problems. Less commonly - the formation of gallstones and the development of myopathy (neuromuscular disease) with joint treatment with statin drugs. Not recommended by doctors for concomitant use with groups of blood thinners. And finally, most of all, European doctors do not like Clofibrate, due to the increased risks of developing cancer, gallstone / stone diseases and pancreatitis.

Triglycerides and fish oil (OMEGA - 3)

Fish oil contains a large amount of long / chain, poly / unsaturated omega 3 fatty acids. In particular, eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA), significantly delaying the synthesis of triglycerides in the liver (while inhibiting esterification, and other fatty acids). That is why, fish oil (to a greater extent, salmon / OMEGA 3) or the drug “Maxepa” (similar in composition to the first remedy) are actively used by doctors to effectively reduce the level of triglycerides in the patient’s blood. In the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia (as well as hyperlipoproteinemia from II b to V phenotypes).

However, normally lowering the number of VLDL (very low density lipoproteins) and chylomicrons (ChM), OMEGA-3 fatty acids do not actually affect the levels of LDL (low density lipoproteins / conditionally “bad” cholesterol / LDL cholesterol) and HDL (high density lipoproteins) / "Good" cholesterol / HDL cholesterol). That is, they do not reduce normally - the first, and do not increase - the second.

In 1985, the results of studies on the treatment of 20 patients with hypertriglyceridemia with the active use of special diet / therapy were published. In which 20-30% of the calorie intake was provided by either salmon fat or Maxepa. One half of patients suffered from type IIb hyperlipoproteinemia, the other - type V. Ultimately, the levels of total cholesterol (cholesterol) and triglycerides (TG) in the first 10 patients (type IIb patients) decreased by 27 and 64%, and in the second (type V patients) decreased by 45 and 79%. It is definitely worth noting that the above / indicated diet turned out to be an order of magnitude more effective than the diet / low fat and the diet with a modified ratio of fats.

Never engage in SELF / TREATMENT! Since, in principle, harmless capsules of OMEGA-3 fatty acids in large quantities (or when closely interacting with other drugs) can seriously damage health. Especially for people suffering from: poor blood coagulation, low blood pressure (hypotension), diabetes mellitus, some liver dysfunctions, as well as certain types of acute mental disorders. Prescribe any medications - ONLY qualified doctors can!

Triglycerides and Niacin

A nicotinic acid (Niacin / Vitamin PP), being an organic carboxylic acid, as well as the above / described FIBRATES, is a highly / effective drug for lowering plasma triglycerides. Thanks to a similar mechanism of action, i.e. inhibition of the synthesis of LDLP - "transporters" that carry triacylglycerides along the blood "highways" to the cells.

In addition, niacin is capable of quickly normalizing the lipid composition of the blood: lowering the overall level of cholesterol, decreasing the amount of LDL (bad cholesterol) and, conversely, perfectly increasing the levels of HDL (beneficial cholesterol). Unlike OMEGA-3 fatty acids (rarely, but sometimes suppressing the psyche), Niacin is not contraindicated in some acute mental disorders (for example, in a state of deep depression).

Despite the many benefits of nicotinic acid (niacin / vitamin PP), never take this medicine on your own! Those. without consulting with treating specialists (qualified doctors)! When interacting with certain medications, niacin can cause dangerous side effects. These can be (in simple words): sensations of “dips in the void”, “lack of air”, yellowing of the skin, swelling (lips and tongue), muscle pain (cramps of the extremities), rapid (or uneven) heartbeat and insomnia.

STATINS and triglycerides

Statins - This is a group of drugs, to a greater extent, "aimed" at lowering LDL cholesterol in the blood. Due to the (reversible) inhibition (i.e., slowing down) of the activity of the key enzyme of LDL cholesterol biosynthesis (in the human liver) - HMG-CoA reductase. The most popular drugs are "Rozuvastatin», «Atorvastatin"And"Simvastatin". Other commonly used drugs from this group are Pravastatin, Fluvastatin, Pitavastatin, and Lovastatin.
